Transforming Meeting Space into Idea Space

As employees return to offices – some, for the first time in over a year – emphasis is going to have to be placed on measured, thoughtful reintegration.

The desire to collaborate and converse in person has been building steadily throughout the remote period. Directed properly, this can lead to a bloom of ideas and a spike in productivity. Realizing the potential of this charged moment will require the careful deployment of tools and strategies designed to keep the workforce focused and energized.

Small meeting rooms, sometimes called huddle spaces have become popular over the last few years. In the post-covid era, they may become even more widespread; they give a small group the chance to break off and collaborate in a concentrated, in-depth manner. Now, with some employees remote and others in-office, these spaces offer an option for hybrid collaboration outside of a large-scale videoconference or one-on-one call.

A modern huddle space is outfitted simply, with a monitor or flat panel, a camera suited for room-wide capture, and a beamforming microphone to flawlessly pick up speech while eliminating ambient sound.  These devices are connected through AV-over-IP technology, which uses the local wireless network in place of cables. This eliminates the need for a confusing nest of cords and ports, and enables the host to simply plug and play with their own laptop.

As the traditional meeting structure continues to decline in popularity, spaces like these offer an opportunity to share ideas, critiques and suggestions in a structured way. Input from out-of-office parties is easily accessible, meaning in-office personnel are more likely to collaborate with remote colleagues. Office workflow is always changing alongside technology, becoming more organic, efficient, and intuitive. The huddle room is just one way AV tech is revolutionizing the way we operate.

Packages like this one provide an inexpensive way to convert existing spaces into huddle rooms.
